What do you use to clean the inside of your glass?
What do you use to clean the inside of your glass? I've been running with the snails in my sig since I started. The cover most of the glass, but even then they leave 'lip' prints of algea all over the place. I just picked up 3 more Turbos and 3 Astrea snails to see if I can get the glass cleaned better. I've heard that you want 1 good algea eating snail per gallon. Now I've got 10 for my 10 gallon. If they don't keep the glass clean, what can I do to 'clean' it. Thanks.
Tank Info:
Am, Nitrite = 0
Nitrate = 2-3
pH = 8.1 (fighting to keep this at 8.3)
Recently cut back on feedings to fight off a small out break of what I think is red slime.
Xenia doing GREAT!

Mostly I use a Dynamic Disc but it doesn't do well in the corners and won't get the stubborn stuff off. For that I use a razor blade about once a month.

I have a lot of small (2-3mm) snails that i 'sweep' from the glass, then I use a green scrubbie, just be careful. I also only do the front and 1 side since the otehr side you can't see thru do to positioning of my tank. This only gets done about every 4-6 weeks, when i really want a good view in side.

We use the Kent Marine Pro-scraper. The stainless steel blades last a long time, and are fairly cheap to replace. (Not to mention, the great 2' handle...)

Any of the Kent line of scrapers (Aqua - mop is GREAT) don't let the intitial cost scare ya , well worth the $$$$ (could have bought a lot of Kent stuff with the $$$ i spend on cheap razor blade scrapers) i still use the razor blade scrapers on the tough stuff (glass tanks) use the aqua-mop in between on the glass 75 , and on the 180 acryl. tank

I use the Magna Float. Takes 30 seconds a day, don't have to take the cover off, and my glass is cystal clear every single day. Not just once a week like it used to.

i use a plastic algae scraper (the brand i use is Algae Scraper) if you dont mind getting your hands wet at least once a month its well worth not spending 15-20 bucks on a magnet that wont get the hard to reach/ strong algae... works just as good as a razor blade and is safe on acrilic too!
got mine at the lfs for $1.25
good deal, -don

I also use the Mag-Float. It's great. The magnet is the strongest I have ever run across for this type of glass cleaner. I can even use it around corners and it hardly ever comes off. If it does, it floats to the surface and I just hold my half on the glass near where the other half is floating and it and it re-attaches. Be careful though, once when it seperated and I brought my half of it over the water surface and the other floating half shot out of the water and pinched my skin on my finger!

I was at Super Target, and saw a small blade scrapper for like 1.50, so I got it, and it works great. Has a yellow handle and the blades pop in. That is what I use.

I use a twister magnet cleaner day to day (don't keep it in the water, it rusts ) And have a razor scraper I screwed to a 2.5" section of 3/8" PVC with a stainless steel screw. Works wonders
