what clam requires the least amount of light?
I know that some clams require more than others. I was wondering if there is one that can be kept under pc lighting. Thanks guys

If it is the setup you describe in your Sig I had a Gigas, and a Derassa that did well in a 50 with 4*65W PC. Depending on how you have your lighting setup, how your rockwork is setup, and how often you replace your bulbs I think you might be able to keep one of those two.

I assume that they need to be up on the rockwork. Right?

That's the problem, they like to be in the sand, only the higher light clams prefer the rock (Maxima, Crosea)
That's why I brought the rockwork up, if your rockwork shadows your sand then it won't really work.

I "rescued" a Deresa from Petco last month. I have him under vho lighting and he's doing great. He's midway down on my rocks in my 90gal.

derasa and squammies are the lower light clams. i have not had a giga, so i can not comment from experience on these.
derasa's and squammies can be kept in some fairly dark areas of the tank. they do grow pretty big, and they grow fast!

tough question there kid55. a lot has to do with lights and depth of the tank. i would think that a squammie or a derasa would be fine under 260w of light in a 75g tank. as this is what the thread was started under. obviously anything shallower would be better with the same amount of light. i am not sure i would go that much below that though. even here i would make sure they were in direct light from the flourescents.
