what are the signs that coraline is growing

maybe i'm impatient, but my tank has been running for three or four months now. the live rock isn't as white as it used to be but it hasn't gone purple yet. i see little white spots on the back wall and anywhere my magnet can't reach. there also seems to be green spots growing. they're both hard to get off the glass.
so.. what are the signs that coraline is growing?

Coralline.

sorry.....coouldnt help it

The green spots you see if they are hard and not other soft algae is coralline.

In some cases the green comes before the purple, and some lighting and lighting situations can encourage green as well.

Just make sure that your alk is 8-11, you calcium is over 400 and your mag is over 1250/1300 and it will come.

I was wondering the same thing. My new (three month) old tank is just starting to get a spec or two but my last tanks required constant scraping. I do a 10% water change every week.

I guess that with maturity comes this, although I thought it was sort of like a precipitate of the water before.

I have green and some purple over 50 percent of my back wall (90gallon), in all corners and everywhere that my cleaner won't reach. I don't clean my back wall as i want it to cover entirely.

i was dying to get coraline, now that i am doing everything short of pulling out razor blades to remove it from the front and sides, and corners, i am not so excited about it.

my tank has been up since dec 18, so about 3 and a half months roughly.

it will come, be beautiful, and take a militia to keep it at bay.

oh what am i saying, i love it
