There's a plan. I read tom's posts from now until july 1, get sloppy drunk and ride a bus for 3 days to sober up

Doug: I have been considering finding an old Geo Metro Xfi(3 cylinder) convertable to drive around, I saw one on Craig's list for $1100...
My oldest son had a 1990 for a number of years, always seemed to be reliable , albeit a bit slow. If I remember correctly, the car was originally build by Suzuki.
Currently, I figure that at the milage the vehicles I have now get, and with Gas at $4.00 a gal regular, $4.22 for 93 octane, and Desiel at $4.60 a gal, I can drive the F-150 for about $0.30 a mile for fuel, the Bimmer is at $0.15 a mile, and the Bug (VW Turbo Diesel) at about $0.10 a mile. If the Metro would still get 55MPG, and gas was still $4.00/Gal, then the fuel would cost $0.07/mile, so the fuel cost or the trip would be $378.42...
That way, I can save the M for the weekends now and maybe drive to the Left Coast one summer (but gas at $8.00 a gal would be $750 round trip then) , although it would be a SIN not to take the Bimmer on a road trip like this. Mapquest tells me that Dick is on the way, and Cath could hop in here with some Tabouli. I cannot imagine driving for four 10 hour days in that little Suzuki-sardine can, even with the top down... ...and that would be if Cath didn't drive any.

Tom, if you want a metro jump on it soon, they are becoming a hot item, they are fetching a lot on e-bay FWTW, I have been told by several metro owners 45-50 is typical.
I really miss my Grand Am coupe, I could squeek 40 from it, I have to drive my Hyundai real slow and easy to eek out 36-37 mpg and the GA was a 2.3 vs the 1.6 in the Accent, yah the new one has auto instead of 5 sp but the auto was rated higher on the window sticker, go figure

That's why I miss my motorcycle so much right now. My GMC gets 13 in the city, the motorcycle gets 50 no matter where I am.

I know I can't handle a bus ride across the country, I have done some long trips in the past and hated it then

I have, and did, consider the train trip. I have done one before and loved it. You get to see parts of the country, and scenery, that you wouldn't get to see otherwise.
A long distance bus trip is more of a nightmare. I made one from FL to VA courtesy of the us navy. The return trip, I paid for my own plane ticket.

Well, I only know this stuff because it is part of that useless "see-it-once-and-remember-it-forever" repertoire of trivia: stuff like this will never have any practical application, but it still ends up in memory somehow...
...and I think he was a big Pharma rep, not a pharmacist, but I could be wrong...

So where are we at with this, it's 3 weekends from now. I know the price of gas is killer, but I plan on going one way or the other
