I order the DI resin in bulk at thefilterguyz.biz.... It gets cheaper the more lbs you buy... So I get the filters there too.

I order bulk from www.spectrapure.com it came out to like $80/gallon 4 uses of the really good bead stuff. I got the none color changing resin seeing how i have two TDS meters. This stuff lasts about 8 months per use so not to bad i think.

Each one binds to either a positively or negatively charged molecule, so for best results, you'd have to use a mixture. Maybe someone with more chemical experience can provide a better answer.

Cat/an are seperate resins so need seperate filter housings, but are easier to recharge if you are comfy playing with Lye and Hydrochloric acid

Every 6 months minimum for the prefilters so that the carbon doesn't deplete and let chlorine through and the DI media depends on when it's used up... You will know by hitting the water with a tds meter before and after the media. In theory, after the the DI media it should be 0, but I don't replace it until I hit 5ish, but that is just me... Out of the RO membrane I'm usually between 3-7ppm depending upon the season.
