I'm not sure what kind of clam that is I think it begins with a c but not sure the sales person told me it wouldn't get over eight inches and that it was hardy. Yes that a aquaculture(sp) frogspawn and torch

crocea clam
One of the highest light clams, they like to be placed in a small bowl in a rock, up high on the rock-work, not the sand like a Gigas or Derassa. You got a great price on it, around here they go for double that, for smaller ones
Very cool clams too, beautiful color,
Whiskey

Thanks Whiskey! So I should move him up? I placed him on the sand and he dug himself in. I could see the sand being blown up around the btm of his shell.

I would definitally move him up, in a couple of days he will lay down threads and attach himself to the rock. Put him in a dip to start with so he doesn't tople off, these and Maxima clams both like to be on a rock, he is probably digging down in the sand to find one.
HTH,
Whiskey

I just went to foster and smith to see how to place my clam and it says that start fish are predators of clams. Does this mean my starfish will kill my clam?

Forgot to mention, your clam will also dig himself into a rock. Here is some really good information

Most starfish are really bad things to have in a reef tank. What kind of starfish do you have?

Congrats on the additions.
Starfish are predator of a lot of things in our tanks! I would definatly put the star in your sump and look to trade it with someone who may want it. I had a bad experience with a starfish and they are not welcome in my tank anymore.

Well they told me it was a blue linka but it doesn't look like any of the linkas I've seen. I posted a thread yesterday with pix of it. "the star of my tank" I guess I can put it in the sump if you think it will go after the clam
