Thought of the acrylic route too I've been considering just going simple...no baffles, no walls...just a pool of water as my sump LOL Sure would give me some practice though making one.

I had never made anything with acrylic until my new tank. This was my first time making something with acrylic. It was really really easy.

I could share some experiences that would make you not feel so much like an "idiot", but instead I will allow you to bask in your glory and have you moments of fame
Welcome to the club though!
