weldon 16 application?

can i just run this along the seam of my sump like you do with silicone? the shavings method didnt work, so i spent a good while with a flat headed screwdriver scraping and beating all the crap out of the corners. so im gonna try the 16. can i just cake it on and let it seal? or does it evaporate completly like the lower numbers?

That can work although it will work much better and surely if you can use a slim piece of acrylic butted up to the seam like we talked about before

the problem is still with the shavings, i cleaned it down to where i can get to the seam sorta, but its not clean enough to get a good bond with a thin piece like you said. if this fails, last shot is glueing a piece all the way down the outside.

Did you consider gluing a piece on the OUTSIDE of the sump???

That should do it alone...then i would run a bead of it along the inside as well for good luck.......it will look kinda funny with a strip on the outside but i bet it fixes it.

Im kinda bummed the shavings method didnt work for you. I have never used that method but i have heard it mentioned a few times lately......

who knows, you might just try running a thick bead of the #16 on the insede seam and see what ahppens.......i have fixed small leaks like that before on a overflow box i made a while back.......

im trying the thick bead inside right now. if that doesnt work, im going with the strip on the out side. i think the shavings method would work better if i pushed it in with my finger. like the way you smooth caulk. i did that on some seams, and on some i didnt, dont know why, but the ones i didnt, are the ones with the problems it seems. so if you ever need to try it, smoosh it in real good with your finger after the shavings get soft.
