weird coral behavior, part two

my lobophyton looks great after the mood swings it was going through (looked like squished cauliflower at times), and its polyps are always out and it even looks like it is growing.

but tonight i had my face plastered against the tank (again), and I was checking out the little polyps, and guess what? they were hyperextending themselves backwards. to say it another way, they were opening up so wide they were bending back upon themselves, much like how a xenia pulses, but the opposite direction...randomly and purposefully, not the result of water motion. has anyone heard of anything like this?

while I am at it, my finger leather (which is mighty cool, I might add) has been extending its polyps too very much lately. but sometimes, it will get all droopy and withdraw its polyps for a little bit, then come right back to normal again. what's that all about?

normal behavior in a system with small amounts of suspended organic (and occasionally inorgnic) matter.

Normal, not to worry.

yeah, my buttons like to pretend to be umbrellas every now and then...its a whole new look for them on occasion. Like Winter fashion versus Summer fashions

No over extended polyps after Labor Day
