We live and learn
I have had my Red Sea Berlin skimmer for more than 2 years now. I have cursed at it several times. Not because it wouldn't skim, but because the skimmate would flow through the air holes and run down the skimmer back into the tank. Tonight, I read the directions for the first time. I turned the cap on the skimmer cup over so the "handle" faced down and it works great. Two years of frustration went away from just reading for 5 minutes. Figured I would share. I am sure I am not the only one who tries everything without instructions.

To preserve my male pride, I will say I didn't actually read the directions. I just looked at the pictures and found the information that I wanted.

Hey Andrew. I just picked up a used Red Sea Berlin. Can you tell me what size pump is required/recommended? I didn't get any instructions with it.

Rick,
Mine was shipped with a Rio 2100. Of course I don't recommend you use that pump. I know lots of places offer an upgrade to a Mag 5 pump. Many people run them with a Mag 7. I am using a Mag 9.5. This thing skims like crazy with the 9.5. I barely have the air valve opened up. I am sure a Mag 7 would work fine though.
I don't know what the manufacturer recommends. I can't find the link to the online manual I used last night, and I don't want to damage my self esteem by reading a manual twice in less than 24 hours.

As my best male friend and I would say "I am sure there is something that I should learn from this, but I sure don't know what it is ) . Everyone tends to think that they know all the answers even when someone else has gone thru the exact same thing tells them other wise. Thank goodness that I do know all the answers .
