Wave Motion

I am on a fixed income so I have to really watch my pennies when it comes to my tank. My wife also notices any noise that comes from the tank, so I was trying to figure out how to get some wave motion in my tank.
I am sure that everyone at one time or another has had one of those "fan" type sprinklers that send a fan of water back and forth across the lawn. Here is a pic of the old style, you will know what I am talking about.
Well there is a new style that is all plastic so I plumbed on into one of my closed loop pipes. So far it looks pretty good. My tank is 7 feet long so I will probably need a couple more if it works.
Any thoughts? The photos are not the best but you will get the idea
