water testing

I have have my tank up and running for close to a month now and have never seen a cycle. I have have only 20# of LR and 20# base. My ph is 8.2, and ammonia, nitrate, and nitrite are always 0. Is this normal? the rock was fully cured when I bought it. Just a few hermits and no fish yet.

There is this product called cycle and it helps speed up the cycling process by adding beneficial bacteria.Try to add 1 pound of rock per gallon or even more as I'm doing now.

seed bacteria are unnecessary if the rock was truely cycled, and the presence of any organisms in the system will help generate the substances necessary to cycle a tank. If the rock was TRUELY cycled, there may not be a bump in the nitrogenous products at all, especially if the rock spent little or no time out of the water between the processing tank and the display in which it resides now. Short out-of-water periods and good, well cured rock will hve no dieoff that would result in the triple peak of nitrogenous byproducts of ammonia biofiltration. If you want to see a peak, try dropping a piece of shrimp from the market into a pair of laides hose and drop that into the tank. Measure for ammonia every 12 hours, and if little or no peak in ammonia appears within 4 days, then pull the shrimp, wait for two more days, and go to look at a new specimen for your tank.
