Water Level
I feel the water level in My tank is too high. Would I lower it by simply lowering the overflow box so more water goes into it? Or how else Would I get it lower with a Hang on overflow? The U tube is unobstructed, working smoothly without a bubble in weeks, and the teeth on the box are clear.

yes, the over flow box, (the inner one) has a small plastic screw that you can loosen, and slide it down, then tighten back up, it controls the level of the display water, but if water isnt splashing over the side, i would leave it, IMO tanks look bad when you can see the water line under the black trim.

Well the level right now is about 1/2- 1/4 inch from the lip that holds the glass top.
I am taking the Box off tomorrow to scrub it down of coralline so Maybe Ill just make it a little lower when I put it back on.

It Would be bad to slow down the return becuase Then Bubbles will gater in the U tibe from lack of velocity. I need more water going to the sump. Just a little.

the water in the internal box is lower than the tank, it should be, its fine, it wont hurt anything, if it gets as high as the tank water, there is a problem. constricted flow through the syphon, thats what was happening with the bubbles in the u tube, they were slowing the flow, and the water in the box was high, your back to normal, you can chill now.

So If the Water level in the box was too high that would mean the syphon was not working properly.
So it doesnt matter how low the water level in the internal box is as long as the syhhon is working without restrictuion?

yea, the box will find its own, as long as the drain in the back box, is higher than both ends of the u tube, your fine, if water raises in either box, you have lost flow somewhere, (back box=drain line, front box=u tube)

You want it a little lower then in the tank(like a waterfall effect),but not to low to lose your flow from the tubes!
