Water Change water Question

How many days in advance does everyone make their WC water and what is the max it can sit before using it?

well if you are making your water from salt mix you can eareate it for 24 hours then use it when the temp is the same. If its ocean water use it when ever. I know if you let it sit with out any movement for a long time bacteria or something in it will die and make the PH Drop or increase i forgot maybe some one else can help on that

I do have a power head and a heater in the bucket with the RO water and reef crystal mix, but I have left it for 5 days nefore using, is that a problem?

Actually I make up my saltwater and put it in 5-gallon plastic jugs with handles and lids. It keeps this way for 2 weeks or longer, as long as it's kept covered. It's RO saltwater.

Like HHC said...if it's air tight, you shouldn't have a problem. Might want to avoid using the last (bottom) gallon or so...but that's up to you.

If it's aerated, moving, and up to temp...it should be good for at least a week...maybe more.

I mix mine usually on Thursdays. Sometimes I do my WC on Fri, sometimes Sat...or Sun...sometimes not until Monday. So that gives me at LEAST 24 hours, but I've used it 5 days later too.

I mix mine for a week...I haven't had any problems that I could see.

I always have 40 gallons ready, so it could be there for 2 weeks or so.
