water change question

how do you change your water without uncovering the objects in the tank. in the case that your rock and corals are very close to top of tank, do you take out say 10 gals on a 30 and then add back or do you take from one side as you add to the other hopeing to get out the old water for new. thanks for your help.

i do what mtfatwork suggests and do more frequent smaller changes. I do a 5 gallon water change weekly on my 40 gallon. Thats a 50% volume change monthly.

most corals would not mind being exposed to the air for a short amount of time. several corals are used to being exposed for many hours during low tides. just to be safe i would turn off any MH's you may have during this.

LPS are generally not as amiable to being left out to dry as stonies/shrooms, and zoas.

I don't have any corals up top that can't be out of water for a short time.I do 10% a week.
