wat does your sump return to the tank look like ?
how did you plumb your sump return ?
i'm looking for ideas, opinions and suggestions.
right now i'm toying with a few ideas, but, who knows, there may be other opinions that i didn't think off.
the sump return pump will be plumbed to a 3/4" bulkhead that is installed in the top right back corner of the tank, facing down. drilled the top cover bracing for this.
right now it's just blowing water through the bulkhead, nothing else.
"what would you do" ?
i'm not looking for any "water motion devices", as i already have two oceansmotions devices plumbed into two separate CLS systems.
i just want opinions on a steady static sump return.
- us a strainer screwed into the bulkhead, just facing down ?
- use a 90 degree elbow screwed into the bulkhead ? which way would i point it ?
- use a 90 degree hose barb screwed into the bulkhead ?
- make some custom piping with multiple outlets ?
- spraybar ?
- lockline nozzle ?
- penductor ?
- other creative opinions ?
ps: i have a DSB, so nothing aimed directly at the sand, or my DSB will end up in the sump

i make everything where i can take it apart they make a conector that screws onto the outside of a bulkhead then you can use elbows if you need i get the ones that are threaded on one end. use unions after this just try to make it easy to take apart there are quite a few pics in my build thread

I bring mine up and over the top sides........down and across the front left and right sides......the canopy hides the outlets and backsiphon is a non issue...the water just falls away from the outlets. I have holes drilled in my eurobracing that holds the pipe in place...i have done the same thing in the past with glass tanks using velcrow to hold the pipe in place...

Mine is buil into the tank and is acually an integral part of the overall dynamic flow of the BB. It helps to keep the tank clean in the hardest to reach spots. Heres a pic, its two 1/2" lines that come up through the overflow and then blast down on each side of the overflow tower keeping that portion behind the spraybar clean of detritus. You can see the 1/2" lines coming up and over in the pic.

thanks for all the pics and descriptions.
but. maybe i was too long winded and my question disappeared in me just babbling... i've gotthe plumbing taken care off fron the sump, all the way to the tank. it's just the last final pice that i can not decide on.
the final piece of the plumbing that makes the actual outlet of the sump return
sump -> pump -> chiller -> bulkhead -> ??? -> tank
(pipes, true union ball valves and siphon breaks are all taken care off)

loc line is a great choice, you can change nozzles and direct it anywhere you want, cant go wrong!

The only issue I see with that is vibration transfer. How quiet is it?
I agree with lockline. It will allow you to mix up the flow everyonce in a while!

Yup sounds good to me too! I had a CLS on my 55 that was an over the back and it was a vibrating, resonating machine. Drove me nuts. Had to put pieces of foam under the contact points.

Actually I am quite suprised at how smooth and quiet the mag is. I expected worse for my return, but then I am new to all of this, so who knew?

I have heard they are pretty much hit and miss, so I guess I got lucky with mine. When I bought it, I posted on here to get advice between it and a Quiet One, everyone said it was quieter, so I went with it. I dont really hear it at all.
