kenya tree? this one has a thick round center. Its diameter is around 3-4 inches. Doesnt look like a kenya tree i ever saw. then again its a mystery leather so who knows. its alive and looks good so im happy with it. Im getting a pulsing xenia frag sat. from frag.org. there is actually alot of people around my area offering frags. Why would anyone pay retal for a coral. I know frags are small but i would rather watch it grow.

It's a finger leather.

May I ask why you're procuring specimens when you don't know what they are?

I'm not flaming you - I promise. Just that it's preferable to know what you're buying *before* you buy it, so you can research and know that you will be able to provide for it.

Buying first and asking questions later will surely land you in a situation where you may end up with an inappropriate choice.

In this case, a leather is a fairly easy coral to keep. Medium light, medium flow - expect it to shrivel up and slough off every month or so.

HTH

I apologize then. Your subject line said you wanted to "take a crack at identifying it again"... sold as a finger leather, yep it's a finger leather. If you want to know its point of origin, I'd ask the dealer who sold it, they should be able to tell you where it came from.

Nailing the exact specie is not really that relevant IMO as this family of corals requires similar care... finger leather, devil's hand, toadstool, cabbage - leather is leather. Medium light, medium flow. Some such as yellow toadstool might need a bit more light to keep their colour, but by and large care is the same for one or the other.

Again - sorry if I misunderstood the intent of your post.
