How Do You Feed An Anemone.. We Were Given "spiering Stint/ Smelt Eperlan Frozen Of Which The Aquarium Advised Us To Feed It. However The Clown Fish And The Other Fishes In The Tank Eat It And The Anemone Does Not... We Are First Time Marine Fish Keepers, And Slowly Learning... Please Help And Advise Us On What To Do.

Many Thanks

Welcome to TRT!

What species of anemone do you have?

This is a common problem and one that can be difficult to overcome. Do you have a small basket (like a berry basket) that would fit over the anemone? If so, you can place it over the anemone at feeding time keeping the fish away so it can eat in peace.

Is posting pix of the anemone possible?

I feed mine frozen zooplankton, which is mostly krill or other pelagic crustaceans less than 1/2 inch in length. I thaw it in some tank water, rinse it with clean tank water to remove the thaw "juice," then pull it up in a turkey baster and directly squirt it (gently) on the anemones while feeding the tank at the other end to divert the fishes. It will help a lot if you turn tank circulatiion off while feeding (cut the Tunzese to 30 minute "feed mode"). I take a small amount of the thaw water to chum the tank so the anemones will be ready to feed, and only feed them every week or so what they will take in in less than 10 minutes. I have used the berry baskets with a weight (piece of tile glued to the basket) with success, but I am usually in too big a hurry to use them when feeding on the way out the door.
