via aqua polar bear chiller?

saw this chiller. its a 1/4hp chiller, claiming some kind of better compressor for a decent price

how is via aqua? ive never used any of their products. what would u guys think? my tank is total 70 gallons

I dont know anything about via aqua, but being as that chiller is around half the price of most reputable 1/4 hp chillers......id defintley be finding some first hand feedback on them before buying it

my 1/10HP current usa prime chiller does 1485BTU.

just my $0.02 though

I got a 1/3 hp from a friend. He ran it for about a year and I have had it about a month. No problems.

the prime 1/10hp is about the only other chiller that is in my price range that ive found

this is the chiller i bought for my tank and love it!!! I believe it is 1200 btu it is QUIET!! And within a month or two (if tims and i can make time to talk more) you will see an ariticle here in the FAQ on how to maintain this chiller


As you can see be the reviews on the site alone it is a great chiller good price range relieble!!

I strongly advise against getting this chiller you are looking at here the quality and specs just dont add up sorry to say. This chiller that i linked you to have been proven to hold up in the long run you can ask Casey, Vinnie, Skeety, and few other reefers on this board. Also i have a 72 gallon tank with a 29 gallon sump......Price wise this chiller was cheaper than the one you listed.

I agree on the PCI, great chiller , I also have the 1/10 Hp on my 90 with MH's and never have a issue with heat,


The 1/4 rating on that one seems off " Over rated" if it only drops 10 degrees on a 80 gallon tank. Something don't seem right other then the price.
