VHO Length

Hello. I am getting ready to purchase a ballast to run VHO actinic lights. I am curious as to the length of bulb that I can fit in my tank. I have a standard 90 gallon tank (48" long). Will 46.5 inch bulbs fit in our canopy? I want to get the longest bulbs that will fit. What are the longest bulbs that I can fit in the canopy?

I can tell you that I just got an icecap ballast retro kit with the 461/2" VHO bulbs and when I finished mounting them in my canopy the total lenth came out to 46 7/8". I only had 47" space available.

Hey Andrew,
My 46.5" VHO's come in at about 47-1/4" with endcaps.

Thanks for the info guys. I am buying the ballast and endcaps slightly used. I could buy 2 36" bulbs for only $15 more, but I want to go with the longest bullbs possible. I will pass on the bulbs and purchase a couple of 46.5" actinics.
