Vho

Ive found some VHO light bulbs, but I cant find info on the ballast. Will they work with ordinary florescent fixtures? If not what kind of ballast do they require. Ive read that the bulbs should be changed every 3-4 months. Is this true? And finally are they worth the effort?

The overall best liked balast for VHO (or anythijng for that matter) is IcesCap. They make a great product. When I set up my 55 cash was an issue so I went to Hellologhts.com and got a kit with ARO electronic ballasts and they have done great. As far as changing the bulbs Ive heard from 9 months to a year. Mine are changed at 9 months. The electronic ballasts are quiet, produce less heat and are said to be much more energy efficient. They are even said to extend the life of the bulbs. They are also more versatile as they will power a combo of bulb lengths as long as they dont go ove the max footage. HTH

a noraml ballast woudl handle the bulbs from what i understand. but a high output ballast will handle all the differant type of bulbs
