Thats because putting such a stress prone fish in QT will only stress him more.

Tangs tend to need large & mature tanks and are prone to ich.

No offense intended .. but sticking fish into your show tank without prior QT is not a wise thing to do. Most fish acquired by your LFS have gone through a distribution system where they have been exposed to numerous parasites/diseases ... further most of the fish sold by LFS are "wild caught" fish that are stressed, haven't been acclimated to captivity, underweight, may not recognize "fish food", and placing them into your Show Tank with other fish who are already fighting for their piece of the ROCK is pretty "unwise"

Qt your fish .. let them acclimate to captivity .. fatten them up .. treat them for any diseases .. release them to your show tank when they are healthy and can handle the interface with your other fish.
