UV Sterilizer buying question/choice
As i need to replace my antique UV on my 180g FO, and that my wife offered to pick one up at Premium on Friday ,while she's in Indy, was wondering what you all think of what my choice oughta be.(I'm sure her offering to get me a UV ,has nothing to do with the $500+ of Jewelry i let her pick out today for her b-day )
My choices at Premium:
Aqua UV 40W -rated for 200g - claims to be the "best"
Corallife Turbo-Twist 36W -rated for up to 500g
i think the Aqua is about $50-60 more, but rated for less gallons of tank serviced
I would shop around for other brands etc. but i'm kinda stuck with what Premium carries,(due to the prev . mentioned "offer")
Wondering what you all think i should get?
Thanks,,,
oh, i have a 8" Blue Angel on hold til i get my lil "problem" taken care of in the 180,,(bacterial)

Jeff, I would get the Aqua. I don't like the way they are built - but I really don't like the twist ones. You can't get in there to clean the twist good enough and people have had problems with them.
Why not get her to give you the money and order a Emperor on line?

If I am not mistaken the Corallife Turbo-Twist 36W -rated for up to 500g in the past has had some problems with leakage of sw into the lighting chamber and shorts out. I too would go with the Aqua UV 40W -rated for 200g. May want to look into something larger than 200 gal set up but if thats what they have then get that one hehhe

On the same page as usual Jerel
not too fond of the twist design myself,,,
I did want to go with a Emperor myself also,,,but in this house i gotta play the game as it's dealt most times,,the wifey offers to pick up a UV at Premium while she's down there, and Premium carries pretty much a couple brands,Emperor not being one of them, I gotta get while the gettin' is offered,,,
(i'm adding stuff to the order anyway,,, so i look at it as a win-win,,,)
thanks Jeff for your input also, again we are on the same page too,
