UV, pump, Canister Filters, DYI

Hey All,

I was given a bunch of equipment which I am setting up in my living room (pictures to follow).

Anyway, I have an Ehime wet dry canister filter. I am told that the Wet Dry will not work if I attach anything to it because of the pressure. Well, I believe it. Frankly not impressed with Ehime in any respect but it was free.

My dilema, I have a UV steralizer which I swear by for tangs etc. (which I have) and I want to run it. Not wanting to run another canister (mechanical) filter I am looking for a way to run the UV without a boatload of pumps etc....

Any suggestions? Or should I just run the Wet Dry and another canister Fluval 304 (which I have) with pads and the UV unit...

All that plus the Skimmer might be over kill for a 55 I'd think...

Any suggestions on where to put the UV without using a canister would be great..

i am not one for cannister filters on reef tanks. to great a risk of being a nitrate factory if not cleaned very regularly.

i do not think you could overkill on a skimmer. the biggest question is how much head pressure the UV will add to a lenght of pipe. if you have a sump you can put it on the return to the display. putting on the skimmer outlet could cause setting the skimmer to be a real big pain.
