Using stainless stell in top off water

I know this is probably a big no no... but I was going to use a stainless steel hose clamp, to securely attach some airline hosing to my pump to pump top off water into my tank... I figured since it was stainless steel it wouldn't rust etc...

Anyone think its ok or what??

Just go get a plastic one or use zip ties.

The zip ties did the trick... I wasn't sure if they would work so I picked up a hose clamp..

Zip ties are nice if there is some type of 'flare' on what your attaching too. Plastic clamps, at least at my LFS, are way expensive. I usually only need 1 or 2 but they sell them in packs of 8 for like $8.

I have rusted out "Stainless Steel" before. I found out only later that there are differant grades of stainless steel and there a high grade is needed to endure saltwater. I would suggest going for plastic where ever you can. If you can not avoid it be very careful chosing the stainless steel part.

Dito, I've never had a high enough grade of SS that it would not rust in SW.
