Using rubberbands to attach frags to rocks/ reef rubble

I wanted to make sure this is ok, I ran out of glue and have seen this done before, I used a small rubberband to attach a mushroom coral to a rock, a small piece of one that another mushroom i had that had reproduced this portion of itself by lateral fission or whatever its called...

Seems like he does this once every two months, he already another part of himself he is cutting off of himself..

Anyway I might be using several rubberbands in my main tank, I shouldn't have any cause of concern for these affecting my little buddies, or corals right..

Also the rubberband has been on for two days and the mushroom seems to be growing over the rubberband itself will this be an issue... I planned on leaving the rubberband on there until he attaches himself firmly is some weeks...

with mushrooms, what i find a lot easier then the rubber band is a cup. thoses larger plastic cups. i just clean it good, add one or two pieces of rubble place it in the tank and add the mushroom to the cup. usally in a day or two he him on tight and the rubble can then be placed where ever..

i just let mine float around untill they land somewhere and attach, then if its movable i move it where i want, if not, it stays where it is!

I've used rubber bands on xenia before. Worked perfectly. 2 or 3 days, it was attached. HTH

Took the rubberband off and he is attached this morning.... Each time he frags himself I can go trade that in after a few weeks when it grows good..

Don't worry about the rubber band, I do this all the time. I use the rubber bands that close bags when ever you buy stuff at the LFS, and I leave the band on the coral till they rot off.
