Question

using ESV b-ionic and ph buffers?...

using ESV b-ionic and ph buffers?...
i am looking to begin dosing calcium...my tank is only 2 months old...

i am planning on buying the 2 gallon size from ESV...

i have heard some people dose calcium in the morning and do a top off with kalk at nite?...do you just mix it up and pour it in your sump?...i thought kalk had to be dripped?...

i also need to add a buffer for my ph and alk...any advice on this?...can i use baking soda?...

thanks

brad

If your alk is really 6.2, your gonna have to pour in the Bionic to raise up your level. (I add 20 ml every day in my 70 gallon to just maintain my levels)

I add both parts directly to my sump about 5 minutes apart. I do it at night but I don't think it matters. Adding baking soda to raise your PH should probably be done in the morning when your PH is naturally low. Baking soda does not add buffer to your tank. The higher ALK level will buffer your tank.

You may need to use Calcium Chloride like Kent Turbo Calcium to quickly boost your calcium and wait for the Bionic to raise your ALK over time.

For your size tank, you may be better off getting a calcium reactor. Not that Bionic won't work, but it will cost more in the long run.

Use the Bionic per directions till calc and alk are where you want, then start ipping kalk to maintain, check levels weekly and add 2 part as needed, DO WTER CHANGES regularlym at least 10% every 2 weeks
