Are these the legendary Corynactus Polyps ?
AND
WHAT IN THE WORLD IS THIS THINGY ?!?!?!?

yep the first two picks are Pseudocorynactis caribbeorum , nice find ! did these come on some atlantic rock ? if they did they will stay small and get no larger than approx. 2" , if they came off indo pacific rock then they will get very large ! ive seen one of them be about 4" across and it was not very fish friendly ! oh the second pic looks like a very common hitch hiker commonly known as a turkeywing . its a mollusk and good for your tank .

LOL....i found the Corynactus in the sand bed of a LFS & they thought they was Barnacles !!!! lol..they gave me a whole rock full of yellow & red ones & i can get the rest if i want FREE !!!!
are they photosynthetic ?

what are you doing talking on here ? go get them suckers before they realize they are worth something  !and some are photosynthetic and some aren;t . hard to really say with out knowing where they came from . but i'm going to say those aren't . good luck with them !

oh & one other thing, there entire system is loaded with them, so i dont think there filter feeders..as they dont feed anything

um.... i don't know much about these, but aren't they a cold water anemone? Also called strawberry anemone?

I have lots of those...I have wondered what they were...they multiply in my tank like crazy too... are you sure they aren't something else?? I know I have the same thing though... bright red stem or foot and tiny delicate little tentacles... they tend to be in the shady parts of my tank.

well i got the rest of the Corynactus polyps, well over 1 dozen of them  one is rather large about 1/2 inch. ill try them in both of my tanks, one in the chili coral tank The others in the MH pure tank.

mine have white tips on there tentacles & look more like the cold water ones, but there doing great so-far, im going to put them in my old tank so feeding wont mess up my new one. they ARE non-photosynthetic, at least the ones i were given

& about the other thing that was ID as a mollusk, its spreading, like a sponge. is that normal ?
