Urchins

Took a trip to the lfs today and was talked into getting myself an urchin for my tank. I for the first time in awhile didn't actualy research what I was buying. I am very happy with my purchase but now I am wondering will it harm my colt corals or do I not need to worry?

Do you know what type of urchin it is?
Most urchins are ok, but they can be a bit like a bulldozer, and knock some of your corals over/around...

Yeah I agree on the bulldozer issue! They can move corals around and knock them over. I have a urchin as well and has not bothered my finger leathers at all to this point!

I asked the name and was told its known as a blue urchin. The urchin is a bright white color with 4 blueish stripes on it. Other than that I don't know. I have been looking around on the net but my finding skills aren't that great.

They will buldoze as the get larger. This is why I get the smallest ones I can find when I do buy them. They should really harm your corals perse, but they will munch on algae...including coralline algae. Currently I have Long Spine and Short Spine in my refugium. They are pretty kewl though, at least I think.
