UPS came today!
My new 100g ro/di W/tank unit came ($96.) 12g so far. It seems they reject a lot of water? Love it though, and my odyssea 175W HQI, two18W PC and 2 moonlights ($149.) unit came also. I really like this unit I'm going to get another one, the legs are adjustable and it fits right in between the support and end of the tank. For $250. I think I did pretty good, I spent more than that on 1-150W HQI pendant. I'll put up some pix later. The ro/di AND the tank fit right under the sink.

Hahaha, yes, I got mine today as well. I am not sure how much I have made, but I needed it badly. My waterline was down a few inches and desperately needed a top-off. Couldn't bring myself to trek down to the LFS for RO/DI when I had already bought it. 8/ I paid more for my unit on EBAY than you did, but it seems to be made well. The water sure is good. Man what a difference in taste. I can't believe it. Now I am afraid to use ice cubes. Ha!
Enjoy DSB!

RO/DI works by rejecting about 4 gallons of "brine" for every 1 gallon of filtrate. All the water that makes it thrugh the RO membrane will be accompanied only by very small ions (some silicate, etc) which the ion exchange in the DI part of the filter will exchange protons and hydroxyl ions for (pH of the final filtrate will depend on which ions are exchanged for which part of the resin, cationic vs anionic)
Of course, protons plus hydroxyl ions yields water...
Ion 1: "I'm a proton"
Ion 2: "Are you sure?"
Ion 1: "Yes, I'm positive..."

I received mine fast as hell, it came in last friday!! Great unit for the price I paid, I already make like 6 gal with it for top-off and will do a 50% water change this saturday with the ro/di water. The worst thing is that I had to dump like 20 gal of ready to add water(tap+salt).

Theoretical research on the spectroscopy and protonation energies of ionic species related to the neutral pyrrolo-aza-aromatic bases has been carried out, using Density Functional Theory (DFT) and its time dependent form (TDDFT). In the ionic species the skeleton localized (+) and (-) charge in the protonated and deprotonated species is shown to have a strong perturbation of the pi-electronic states. The lowest electronic S(0) --> S(1) (pi,pi*) transitions are shown to have near-coincidence for each cation and anion for the whole homologous series, in agreement with the Valle-Kasha-Catalan rule previously stated. It is further demonstrated that simultaneous dramatic changes, upon electronic excitation, in acidity and basicity at the pyrrolo- and aza-positions of the molecular skeleton are the driving force for the biprotonic phototransfer processes in these bases. This constitutes confirmation of the proton-transfer rather than H-atom transfer as the reaction mechanism.

heh! Interesting that you chose that particular abstract, see:
http://www.rsc.org/images/OR034005_tcm18-24557.pdf
this is a related field, but the gist of the abstract you posted is hydrogen atom transer vs. ionic movement, a reaction of binding energies vs. ionic transfer (weak ionic interaction vs. electron sharing)
~a little organophosphate chemistry for ya.

Um, ok. Left that back in college with a few bad grades.
My water tastes good! Can't remember if that was a test in one of my lab write-ups, but it is relevant now. Screw chemistry, drink water. Ha!
