updated tank pics

i havent been around in awhile but all my tanks are doing well. heres a pic of my 55g and 15g tall. the nano-cubes are doing good, well one has cyano right now so i wont show any pics of that hehe
im dying to add more rock in the 15g tall to cover that bald spot center top, but the dang filter intake is in the way. im trying to figure out a way around it, can i just put a rock infront of the intake even though it would be touching? maybe a big mushroom rock?

looking good pastina, dont be a stanger, and about the intake. cant you cut it shorter? as long as your powerhead is stirring up the poop good, shouldnt matter if the intake is higher up.

Im not a big fan of the black sand usually. But that really looks done right. Nice contrast in colors there. It really really makes everything stand out... really...nice job.

power filter question.......

is that a whisper power filter you are hanging on your tank? I have one set up on my 29 gallon but i dont think it is working properly. Most of the water is coming out of the intake section instead of the section to the left of the intake where the bio bag is. Is this normal or it it fuctioning improperly?

looks good pistina.
you might be able to raise the intake a little but i dont see much way to get around it...

Richie822,
no thake means you need to do a cleaning of it and replace the carbon filter. that floss they use will gunk up pretty fast..expect to replace that every week to week and a half.

Sometimes when people change their avatars I don't always recognize them. I think I remember the name Pastina but what was your avatar before? I seem to remember a penguin or something.

You're tanks are looking great!

yeah i changed my avatar. i used to be the porcipine with the gas mask lol
the filter is a whisper knock off from petsmart called top fin. they are just as crappy as whisper but its an easy and cheap filter to use.
i know what you mean about it spitting out of the intake part, i see this problem with both whisper and top fin. i actually have 5 of these filters running on several different tanks from turtle, fresh to reef. in each case they all drip out of the intake area, some worse than others. i think the poly pad is too thick or something cause whether its brand new or old it still does it. but when i take it out for a few days to run only a carbon or a phosban bag it stops and flows out the front the way its supposed to.
it does no harm so i just ignore it

im considering removing the filter from the 15g all together and buying a skimmer instead. the tank doesnt leave much room for both so its one or the other. im a bit worried going filterless because wont that make the tank cloudy or something?? where would all the particles go?

oh p.s whisky the kent pro scraper with metal blade worked!!!! thank you hehe
