Great looking tank. I'm still trying to identify everything!
More importantly, I see you are a golf pro?? Maybe you can explain why, if I can hit my 8 iron 150 yards, why I cannot hit a driver 250 yard???
Cheers, Mike

Thanks all for the great comments...I'm pretty happy with it..
cichlid.....without seeing you hit a ball....
2 questions...how far do you hit your 5 iron..3 iron etc?....my first suspicion is that you are closing the face of your 8 iron delofting the club..making it more like a 6 iron...
do you hit your driver straight?...and just short?....if you are hitting it straight just not long...it could be many things...club..ball...the only way to increase distance is to increase club-head speed....but then bad things can happen...
anyways...give me more info and I'll try to help....
played today....what a day!

Reef advice = free
golf advice = $60/hr
I'll take a shot though. I like Kim's explanation of why the 8 iron is going 150, plus club manufacturer's have been gradually delofting clubs for about the last 10 years, the standard loft on today's 8 iron is about that of what a 6 iron used to be.
Anywho, a ball needs to stay airborne to acheive any distance, I would imagine a combination of a) lack of clubhead speed and b) the steep face of the driver (what loft do you use?) keeps you from applying enough backspin to keep it in the air for any great length of time. How far do you hit a 3 wood?
And BTW, 250 yds is a very good distance to hit it, 275 average is quite exceptional, and 300 is, well, crushed (or downwind, lol)!

minnreefer...is it bad?...ummm....let's just say you get your money's worth!
mojo....cujo in Detroit...heading for his cup...poor TO is whining...nothing new!
I'll share a little golf advice since I've been stealing your advice off here for months!
stats show for most high handicappers that a 200 yard drive is an exception rather than the rule....
beach bum is right on the manufacturers playing a hnad in this as well...wow I can hit these Titleists much further than my own set...I'll take em!...cha-ching...
combination of club-head speed and launch angle will increase distance...oh and the foot wedge!

No, my 8 iron is not delofted, nor do I place the ball back in my stance.....I just strike my irons very well and usually straight. My 7 iron is about 150-160, and my 5 and 6 iron are about the same, 180 or so if struck well. Sweet trajectory! But when I get that darn driver in my hand, not much happens. I have a 9.5 degree King Cobra, a few years old....my buds say I am not releasing the club (my right hand turning over the left through impact) enough and am hitting it more like an iron. But I cannot fix the problem. I have never had lessons. I am a high 80's to low 90's player. I think I need a lesson. It's mental....a Zen thing, I think. :-)
I live for golf, my aquarium, and oh yeah, my family!! :-) The order changes with the weather.
Keep it in the short macro-algae,
Mike
