updated pics of recent issues with poll on skimmer pump

Well first we talked about the tissue damage on the green open brain i got. it actually seems to be getting smaller. and to my surprize i found my tank raised clow hosting in it this morning. And i dont mean for like 5 min either. He was in it for hours. Next is the issue i was having with my whappin watermelon zoaz shrinking. since i got this tank and went from 80w pc on the old tank to 150w HQI lighting these zoas have been shrinking and thinning out while my other zoas are thriving. I moved them to the back left corner of the tank and now look at them. They look better, fuller, and brighter then ever. Last i ask a question about upgrading my rio 600 venturi pump on my skimmer to a maxi jet 1200 venturi. I was asked to supply a pic of the current skim mate and here it is.

I had 2 skimmers that came with Rio pumps and neither was very good. When I upgraded to a MJ with the venturi both skimmers worked a ton better. Plus, you can turn them on and off and they start up again, no cleaning. I have an MJ 1200 in my tank right now (along with one of the skimmers with a venturi mj mod), and I haven't cleaned either of them for over a year and they are running fine (just covered in coralline). You will be amazed at how much better your skimmer will work with the mj vs. a Rio. Don

its not a mod its a black cone shaped plastic peice that goes on the intake of the MJ. there is a air hose attachment in the middle. this is used for the cpr bak pak, seaclone, and others
