Unsticky suction cups

My crazy fish in the 90g FOWLR keep knocking my powerheads loose. My nice little 3" arogonite bed that is all flat looks like sand dunes when I get home after they do their destruction.

The suction cups are only 6 months old and I find clean spots to stick them on the glass.

Is there any way to semi permanently mount them with something like an underwater curing RTV or something? The hood is completely enclosed and fits tight so there is no way to use a bracket unless it mounts to the hood itself.

New suction cups. As they age, they loose their flexibility and can't keep suction.

Ditto,, new cups would help a lot, if not going to a bigger, better cup than what you have now,,,,Some people use laquer(sp) thinner to remove the "dead" rubber on cups , rinse very well,,,,,
cleaning both the cups and the glass will help on keeping the cups in place,,

i have the cure. get a cheap cleaner magnet...hagen's are the cheapest around here. super glue the inside magnet to the PH. now you can place the PH anywhere you want, move it around to tweak flow and remove it to clean and perform maint.

I am going to try the big suction cups off my collection of failed Rio's first then. Thanks for all the ideas. Scraping the glass with a razor might help I am thinking.

Great idea, Wit! We just tie the power cord to something outside the tank once the cups give out...and let the pwrheads hang.

I have a fully enclosed canopy so I think a piece of plastic attached to the inside of the canopy that fits into the powerheads might work. Time to get out my Dremel set with the 8 million attachment set and see if I can fashion something. These suction cups with a bird wrasse wreaking havoc are like mixing beer and tequila...just don't do it.

The only down side to magnet attachment is the exterior portion of the magnet exposed on your tank side wall. But, still a little price to pay for easy placement etc..... TUNZE's are available with a magnet bracket as well.... (dream invaders who are reaping the profit I guess)

I hate to admit it, Perry, but on this one I might have to agree with my wife .... who would say the Eight Million Piece Dremel Experiment might be a Little bit OVERKILL.

Keep it simple.... After all .... remember ... it IS just a rubber suction cup.

Just Superglue the DARN suction cup to the inside of the glass, Perry !!! ...... That should do it.
