Unknown Animal Picture
http://us.f1.yahoofs.com/users/bb25f353/bc/My+Photo+Album/unknown+animal.jpg?bcvvS87AVhLlujfG
Hi. Jon has been bugging me to post something So here goes. I have this animal? in my tank and no one seems to know what it is. It has a shell on its back like a bivalve shell, feathery type hairs on one end, its body is like a snail, has a probiscus that is puts down in holes in the rock as it moves around the tank, it moves faster than any snail I have ever seen. It hunkers down and closes the shell around itself when startled. Overall the length is about 1/2 inch. Any ideas? Thanks.

It's going to be hard to ID this animal. The link you supplied does not work.

Forbidden You must supply a local referer to get URL '/users/bb25f353/bc/My+Photo+Album/unknown+animal.jpg?bcvvS87AVhLlujfG' from this server.
This is what I get when I click the link. Dick

I can't see it. Yahoo! keeps asking me for a password... Go figure.
Anyway, if Phill says it's a bivalve mollucs, then it likely is... always tough finding out what kind.

I concur it is a type of bivalve, ID uncertain. Most are harmless filter feeders amd prolly wont last long in a typical aquarium, tho some can be predatory. keep an eye on it and remove it if it shows signs of dying or predation, good luck. Keep me posted on the other thing we talked about in chat, thanks

thanks everyone, you are really a laugh! Nice too. ![[laugh]](graemlins/laugh.gif) Tony, I dont know how but I think you looked at the picture of me not the animal. I dont know why the links are not working. When I posted it on the other board, it showed the picture instead of the link. About the animal... do bivalves move around the tank like a snail? This is just like one, only like it borrowed the shell but the shell is attached to its back. Thanks for everyones help.
