type of snail any good.... or useless..


In this pic is this a Nassarius Obsoleta (Ilynassarius Obsoleta)?? How effective are these in a reef tank for a clean-up crew?

4" sand bed.... taking it out and leaving about 2" though. Will these little guys be okay with that?

They should be ok with 2" of sand. How long has the tank been up for?

7 months. Have a little green hair algae. I have also read they dont eat green hair algae but just the ditritus to control it.... that true?

Yes that is true. Turbo snails eat hair algae.

Good point, although the process of detritus going through another biocycle must be beneficial in breaking down and absorbing some of the nutrients for the snail, rather than say... for algae.

and on another note, a dancing banana

just so you know those snails posted in liveaquaria are different from the ones you posted. Yours you posted are Obsoleta. These are actually more of a cold water species. They will live in your reef tank but long term who knows. They also can be abit more carnivorous than Nassarius Vibex. They are found purty cheap on ebay or free off the coast of North Carolina and such. I would recommend the Nassarius Vibex over Obsoleta.
