sure, it's possible, but why? Especially when you can buy a purpose built Nano reactor for like $50 that includes a circulating pump and is already setup

I have one that I use as a second column for my main reactor

...and most true nano systems can more easily and effectivey managed using a 20% water change every week or two and use a two part supplement if you really need to bump up calcium and alk levels. Skewing of the conservative eliements of the seawater column are not a problem with two-parts when you can easily change 50% of the tank water every 3 or 4 months at little relative expense in a nono system...

Though it might not be practical to use it for a nano CA reactor,.. it would make a great second or third chamber to get a little more out of the CA reactor you already have

Afterthought: Use kalk in your ato to supplement , even better than two part additives.

kinda off topic, but I keep looking at an old broken phosban reactor that I want to turn into a DIY nano skimmer.
More on topic, what I'm doing at the moment is expirementing with ARM in an old RO I have. My ATO runs through two RO canisters half filled with ARM. The lower Ph of the DI water slowly dissolves the aragonite, supplementing the tank. I got the idea from here: https://www.marinedepot.com/ps_ViewI...~FIRORAAD.html

HMMMMmmm...
I do not think that at the ph of most RO water that you will get much in terms of dissolution of the aragonite; if you set it up, then test the effluent for alk every 6 hours after setting it up for a few days and post your alkalinity values. I think that may change your mind. You will need a good means of acidifying the seawater and controlling the release of CO2, then recirculating that seawater to get a decent amount of dissolution in a reactor that small.
let us know how it turns out.

So far, I'm not very satisfied. My hopes aren't very high. I just see it as an additional way to supplement the system. ATM, the water is just sitting in the chambers with the media. It is not being circulated at all or used in the ATO setup. After about 24 hrs I tested 4 dkh and 20ppm calcium. I do want to change it up so that the canisters are only about 1/4 to 1/2 full of calcium carbonate. ATM the canisters are almost completely full with media. I'm thinking that I may get better results with a) a greater water to media ratio and b) RO water actually flowing through the unit. Time will tell. If it doesn't work out, then it was a fun and cheap experiment.
