Two Clowns??

I have a full grown Ocellaris clown in the 46 bow. I have been talking about getting another one, but hadn't researched it yet. Well, my gf brought me one home last night. Its very small. Would it be ok to add to the 46 with the other one or will there be a problem? Right now i have the small one in my 2.5 nano. Here's a pic to give the idea of how small it is.

you should be fine. as long as they are significantly different in size you have a decent chance of keeping them together. the larger one will be the female and the smaller one will stay the male. it is when you try and put two large clowns in the same tank that you will more than likely only end up with one.

Thats good news. I know the tank he's in now isn't big enough, so Im just gonna transfer him over to the 46 and hope it all turns out ok. The other one is MUCH larger than him.

You might want to be caution before pair the two clown together. I have seem larger clown chase the "new" smaller one all over the tank, I am not saying this will happend to you but a little caution won't hurt. You can put the new clown in a breader's net or flowing basket for a few days, this way the larger clown can see the new tank mate but he can't touch it. Once the larger clown is getting use to the new clown you can then release it to the tank, 24 to 48 hours should do the trick.

I would say keep the fish separate for at least six weeks. If you introduce the new fish right away, not only will the larger one likely stress it out, you could potentially contaminate your ST. Here's a link you might find interesting.
