turf or tuff or Shaving Brush algae

I am looking for an invert that will eat this stuff. My tangs peck at it but do not keep it under control.

This algae will not "die" when left in the dark for a month. It still stay green and attached to the rock. Even though it should "dead", it remains attached. And the "roots" will produce new growth when rock is reintroduce into a light tank.

any ideas?

Eek! Only one idea, run.

The only thing that comes to mind, that you would probably find on LR too, is one of the Caulerpa.

When you say roots, do you mean like runners? or just coming out of one single spot? Can you describe the leaves? or maybe no leaves just bushy like hair algae??

its a short single shoot of hard green algae. You can pull it off but its a bear. Once it has been in the dark for a month it comes off easier but even rocks that i have cleaned it will grow back. so something is still left behind when you pull it off the rocks.

People have called it shaving brush algae, or turf algae. I could put the rocks in a bucket of bleach and that will kill it but all I will have left is base rock.
