Tunze TS24 Vs. (2) Tunze 6201 Vs. Vortech MP40W
So Ive changed my mind AGAIN lol. Im going to stay with the Giesemanns, like I planned. But the flow is changing. Im up in the air as far as my powerheads are concerned though.
My thinking:
I was going to go with the Tunze TS24 with the two 6101s and a multi controller. But I figured how often would I actually control the flow on those? I more than likely would just have them cranked up, I mean I AM paying for the flow, why not use it all? So instead of using the TS24 which is 6,340 GPH (combined) and $978, I will be using two 6201s which are 10,566 GPH (combined) and $1010. If/when the time comes, I will just splurge the $200 and buy the multi controller. For now I think its worth the extra $32, for the extra 4,000+ GPH.
I wont ever have to worry about these not being strong enough for my tank, Especially teamed up with my 6045s. Also I will eventually get a wavebox, so I may not ever need to buy the controller for these guys, since I would imagine they will always be cranked to the max.
What are your thoughts? Id especially like input from those who have used the Vortechs, especially if youve used the Vortech and the Tunzes.

These tunzes are pretty much uni directional as well. Im not too worried about direction. I'll have my wavebox eventually anyhow. And I will angle my 6045s in weird positions.
And there are two tunzes listed

I like that you are diversifying and getting input from so many sources, you know my opinion by now

I have Tunzes, never tried the Vortech...I started with the 6101, just bought 2 6201, the 6201 are much more powerful than the 6101, plus they come with a really nice cap that fits over the outflowing water preventing fish from going inside. I really like the 6201, its just very slightly larger, but same great flow that blows all aroung the tank.

Lol true. Just trying to get as much input as possible. Not to take away anything from other fellow Large Reef Tank members lol.
I got a killer deal on the 6201s, Salty supply knocked $65 off of each, along with $250 off of my light fixture. That guy is awesome, he ended up saving me about $500.... that I can put right back into equipment with him lol. Also threw in a 4% discount for life for kicks.
6201s it is, and now I can afford a multi controller!

Anyone else have input?
Im kinda looking for people who have say a 180g, and the 6101s, with SPS in the tank. Do you wish you had 6201s, or are you satisfied?
I will be doing SPS, with some LPS and softies, and some clams.
