Tunze or Schuran compact filter systems?

Looking for feedback with anyone running a complete filter system, Tunze or Schuran. I am currently looking at the Tunze system 19 for a 125 gallon reef tank. It is a bit pricey, but comes with a lot of bells and whistles. I like Tunze's strategy which emphasizes skimming and mechanical filtration, not stupid bioballs which will play no part in a proper reef setup. In addition, osmolator level control is built in. Aquamedic looks like they have some great products, but their system is running (2) skimmers and has bioball towers. Doesn't make sense or efficiency for a reef system.

I have never used either one, Don't know alot about them , I was told once not to use two skimmer no need to, But I found that two skimmers can be useful, I have two on my 90 and They both rock, Tank is doing very good,
but I know Tunze is pricy but I think they make a good product. I don't like to get into the Bio ball debate. I know some people with nice reef tank using them , I don't and have not in years. I run a plan old sump. Nothing in it.

I have heard that a lot of people use "plain" sumps, but need to know a little more. When one says plain, do they mean absolutely nothing? I have envisioned some sort of coarse filter pad on my refugium return and also a seperate sump with a prefilter pad, skimmer zone, and carbon chamber. Does this make any sense. I want to protect my pump suction and believe I need something there for straining. Any feedback?
