Tube anemones do need to have thier tube burried in the sandbed in order for them to be comfortable and happy. They dont have to be vertical, but do bury the tube. They are filter feeders yes, but like most anemones and certain corals, should be fed small frozen meaty foods as well. The green stuff that floats out of them is waste yes.
No one can say if a clownfish will host it or not, as with any anemone, its hit and miss. A clown will host anything if it wants to, even a rock or PH.
Hope this helps

Tube anemones have been known to eat small healthy fish. A clownfish would be in danger if it tried to host a tube anemone.

Clowns and tubers don't go together.

See my thread for the tuber I have had for a few weeks, there may be some info there you find helpful/interesting...

this is a misconception. they are not fish eaters. they are actually pretty harmless.

no, they do not NEED to be in the sand, you can use a piece of PVC pipe as a home for it if you are running a BB tank.

Agreed...their sting is actually pretty weak...I've yet to see it do any damage to anything it touches.
