Thank You.

yes, easiest of the easy, just use a clean non-oiled pair of wire cutters and cut the skeleton at the bifurication of the branches. With good circulation and proer lighting, these specimens will grow like weeds.
BTW, they may not do well in direct MH lighting, but will flourich in reflectivelighting off the glass as understudies of the reef top specimens in MH tanks.

Yes, I have done this many times. Use pliers like Tom said or you can use a Dremmel tool if you have one. Make the cut away from the "head", somewhere near where ther branches meet works best IME.

What those guys said - I've used both cutters and dremel.
Great coral, as Tom says seem to do well under direct MH + w/ more indirect light too. Can spot feed them when the lights go out [mine at least] too, if you want to make them grow like mad.

Thank you. I'll start today. I don't think my dremal is water proof so I'll use cutters.

In a pinch, they snap right off as well using your hands. All those years mastering the wishbone on turkeyday really paid off

Exactly. I just got a 2 headed frag about 2 months ago. When I got it, they were basically one big polyp with 2 mouths, like yours. It's now almost fully divided, but not totally. This is my first for Calaustrea Sp. so Im no pro by any means, Im sure more will chime in with an example of growth rates.

Yep, all that hard skeleton below the polyp is actually dead. Trumpets and all the other phaceloids grow and split pretty quickly.
