Question

trouble w/ gasket in tap water purifier

The other night I changed the filter in my TWP for the first time. It was a little tricky trying to hold one end from slipping while screwing on the cap at the other end. And that confounded spring in the top
I made some purified water, and when I was putting it away, I noticed that water was leaking from the bottom. Is all the water that was in the filter/cannister supposed to trickle out or not? It wasn't like that with my first cannister, so the filtering media stayed wet. Of course, that made it more difficult to check the color to see when it was time to change. Who knows about this?

Cath,
It shouldn't leak!
Try unscrewing the end and making sure the gasket is seated. Also, wipe the gasket and end cap well. It does need to be pretty tight to get a good seal.
If it still leaks, try some Teflon plumbers tape to seal the end caps with the TWP cartridge body.

I have the same problem with both of mine, but then again I have disassembled them and separated the resins so that they could be recharged. I am prolly gonna wind up stuffing the resins in separate mesh bags and stick it in a PVC tube then run it after the RO output

When I recharge my TWP cartidges, I remove the ridge on the ends that comes at the mold lines, to lessen the chances of leaks. You can feel the ridge so I remove it by "sanding" the ends of the tube.
You can tape a sheet of fine sandpaper to a flat table, and draw the tube end along the sandpaper, turning occassionally, and making sure the tube is kept square with the table top.
By the way, I don't use the spring as it compacts the resins and creates too much resistance in my TWP and pops the water connections sometimes.
