I have just had a casualty. I added a
foxface rabbitfish to an aquarium which already had a clarkii clown and a falco hawkfish. They are both very territorial and have been on their own for several months. Both picked on the foxface, but he was a couple of inches larger and was still feeding quite voraciously until a couple of days ago. He kept ending up in the overflow. I thought he was being chased in there, but I believe in his weakened state he was unable to swim against the current. He had a few small circular lesions which were, I believe, from the clown (who also bites me occasionally.) On closer inspection, it appears that a couple of the lesions might have gotten infected. Is this the likely cause of death? Sorry about the lengthy background, but I figured CSI would need as much info as possible.
Any suggestions to stop the aggression? With great difficulty, I have removed "Evil Nemo" to my
quarantine tank. My idea is to put him back when I have added other fish. The hawkfish is much too fast for me. I have just transferred a coral beauty from the quarantine tank and the hawkfish is already going for it. Some suggestions for catching fish without ripping the whole tank apart would also be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ghoti
