Tribulations

Since the last time I posted an update on my tank was in January (seems like a month ago). I guess grad school and marriage soaked up my TRT time.

After the major system upgade in January http://www.thereeftank.com/forums/sh...ight=saltblock the coral inhabitants were growing at a rate I had never seen before in any of my tanks, it was (and still is) working great.

The tank has, unfortunately, experienced two catastrophic events in the recent past. The first occurred when I inadvertantly turned off the MH while I was cleaning before I left for an 8 day trip. When I got home, my 6" diameter monti was dead, and everything else was not looking too good. Two weeks later, I fryed a button coral, a kenya tree, most GSP, and a xenia. Again as I was cleaning the tank and I must have bumped the dial on the thermometer and the tank was around 95F for 6+hours.

I have since idiot proofed the area below the tank (where all the electrics are located), but the lessons learned came at a price I really did not like to pay.

the tank is looking GREAT!!

our tanks would be so much better if we did not make stupid mistakes. i keep trying to find ways to get me out of the loop, i am my tanks worst enemy.
