Tree Coral Question

I have a tree coral and on the bottom of the base of the coral on the right hand side there seems to be a spot which may be a new one coming. Any ideas? Here is a pic:
Also on the left hand side of pic on a rock is what I believe some type of clam and it is a dark black.

Hey Johnny I have had one of these for years. Tough little guy. I have had many new branches grow off of mine but I have never seen that before. it looks like a hole. when mine has produce a new arm it was an outward growth (almost exactly like a tree). I took a good look at mine and cant see anything like what you have. But you never know. good luck

Ahh thats better it looked like a hole on the pic I thought you had picked up a parasite. That does look like a branch. The good branches start on the base like that the ones that start higher on the tree tend to be small but the bottom branches are the good ones. As you peices ages in the tank it will begin to branch like crazy, every once and awhile it will eject a branch usuall when the branch is about 2-3 inches. I the only self fragging coral I have .

looks good johnny

"...once and awhile it will eject a branch ...."

Yeah, I'd say it looks like it's about to eject something, alright. In fact, my mare's rear-end looked almost the same when she was about to eject something, too.
