ok I have a few questions about fixing these cracks....
I got this tank for a steal from a fellow trter - ( thank you!)
and it has 2 cracks in the top that will need fixed...

what would you all do to fix it?

2nd crack was made moving the tank into the garage
first crack... I don't know.. maybe the previous owner can help us out....

crack one

crack 2

both cracks are seperating- at the very end of the crack you could fit a popsicle stick into the crack....

I think you should use your heat vision to repair the tank.

no images are loading for me ...is this an acrylic tank? If the crack arent over an area that hold water, you could just 'patch' them by putting a piece of acrylic over the crack to hold them together...same for glass.

I've had notes left for me in the snow before.

A couple questions to help the whole story.

1) Acrylic thickness (my bet is 3/8")?
2) do you still plan on enlarging the tank top opening (if so the timing of the repair may be debatable)?

1. yup 3/8" is correct
2. yes unless someone tells me that is a really dumb plan

Chris is refering to me taking the top of the tank to a 2.5 in lip around it so enlarge the hole that is so tiny. This will enable me to get more light into the tank, ans have an easier time getting rocks in and out.

I agree with a fishplate repair.
