Too Many Opinions on lighting

Read an article on the web from reef aquatics that said that yo can keep clams with VHO lights if clams are within 18" of lights and stony corrals if they are within 24" of lights.

I have a 40 gal tank that is 20" deep from lights. Was thinking about 4x96 VHO setup. Any opinions?

Well no hard and fast rules there, the Derasa clams seem to tolerate VHO OK and some "stony" coral, assuming you mean the small polyp scleractinian or SPS coral, some will tolerate VHO better than others

This persons tank seems to be doing quite well with VHO. I'm no expert, but it looks like the corals are more than tollerant of the lighting. No clams, but nice SPS.

Sorry, don't know how to create a link, but try www.premiumaquatics.com under the lighting section.

Still looking for more opinions, particularly looking for success stories from tanks w/ VHO only setup
