Too late?
My clownfish that I have had for about three weeks seems on the verge of dying. Last night I noticed him hovering around the bottom of the tank, breathing rapidly. I thought it was my imagination - but just now he was laying on his side on the sand. When I tried to net him, he darted away into the rocks and I can't find him. Is he doomed? He showed no signs of disease, no spots, no injuries - other than the gasping.
The other occupants - royal gramma, fire shrimp, and skunk shrimp (assorted snails and crabs) are all fine - eating well too.
Levels - phos 0, ph 8.2, amm 0, ite 0, ate 0, alk 4
Any suggestions what to do?

Captive raised or wild caught? Any signs of sloughing skin or peeling?
Could be Brooklynella - it can kill within hours.
Formalin baths (outside the main tank, of course) can help if it's not too late.

He was tank raised...no sloughing skin or peeling - he looks as good as the day I bought him. I haven't seen him eat more than a bite in a couple of days...no that I think about it more.
Could this spread to everyone else? I CANT FIND HIM...but if I do, do I dip him and then release him in the Q tank?

Well, it was too late. By the time I found him, the fire shrimp had him. I took him away - his gills might have been the SLIGHTEST bit pink, but you really had to look at him post mortem to see it.
So, if it is gill flukes, do I worry about everyone else?

I haven't seen gill flukes in clowns, but I suppose it's possible. Flukes attack the soft tissues, the gills, mouth, eyes. Were his eyes cloudy?
Could have been any of a plethora of things. Keep an eye on everybody else, but if they are/were healthy, chances are they will remain so.
Sorry for your loss.
